Class 7 Restrictions in BC – A Quick Overview
In British Columbia, the Class 7 licence is part of the Graduated Licensing Program (GLP) designed to help new drivers gain experience safely. It includes two stages — Learner (L) and Novice (N) — each with specific rules.
Learners must drive with a qualified supervisor, display an “L” sign, maintain zero alcohol or drugs, and avoid driving between midnight and 5 a.m. Novice drivers must display an “N” sign, maintain zero blood-alcohol levels, and limit passengers unless accompanied by a fully licensed driver.
These restrictions ensure that new drivers develop strong skills before advancing to a Class 5 full licence. Following these guidelines helps promote safe driving and a smooth progression through BC’s licensing system.
